Connecting Faith, Families and Schools Conference- 2014 Connecticut has launched a campaign to reduce chronic absenteeism by keeping students "IN SCHOOL AND ENGAGED." It began with the fifth "Connecting Faith, Families & Schools for Student Success" conference, held October 23, 2014 at Wesleyan University. 2014 Parental Awards Parents  from across Connecticut are receiving 10 Parental Involvement Recognition Awards  at a special ceremony at the State Capitol November 20. The State Education Resource Center (SERC) and CT Parent Information and Resource Center (CT PIRC), operated by SERC, present these awards annually to coincide with National Parental Involvement Day. SERC and CT PIRC run the award program in collaboration with the Connecticut Commission on Children. For more information and the winners list download the press release (pdf).

October, 2014: Watch and discuss television shows, movies and videos with your adolescent. Check your teen's understanding and encourage him/her to ask questions and relate the show to real-life experiences. Be your own movie critic and develop a family rating system.
