Connecticut's Framework for RTI: A Family Guide

Using Scientific Research-Based Interventions: Improving Education for All Students
Teachers, administrators, and families want all children to succeed.  There are many ways to get children who are struggling to learn the additional help they need to be successful.  One way is with the use of “scientific research-based interventions” (SRBI).

This booklet reviews what SRBI are and includes questions you might want to ask your child’s school or program to learn more about how they are using SRBI as a framework to improve teaching and learning.  Also included here are ways families can be a part of the decision making process and what to do when you have concerns about your child’s progress.

About the Connecticut Parent Information and Resource Center

With a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the CT PIRC is designed to be a resource to all Connecticut families. CT PIRC provides statewide support to families, community and faith-based organizations, and educators. Whether it is through our website or 1-800 Parent Line, our hope is we can provide you with valuable tools to help you make informed decisions about your child’s education. Please feel free to explore our website and give us feedback on the current content or desired content. The CT PIRC toll free line, 1-800-842-8678, is up and running, so give us a call!

The Connecticut Parent Information and Resource Center (CT PIRC) is housed in Middletown. While the website is currently under development, CT PIRC is designed to serve families, educators, and service providers on behalf of the children of Connecticut.

Once complete, this website will contain materials about CT PIRC activities, including CT Parents as Teachers, the CT PIRC Advisory Board and Special Committees, resources, and education materials for families and professionals on NCLB and rights of families; family involvement, family learning, school-family-community partnerships, research, and other significant family engagement materials will also be available.

CT PIRC has a toll-free number that allows parents, guardians, and other family members to contact CT PIRC staff directly for information about training and resource materials. Call CT PIRC's Toll-Free Parent Line: 1-800-842-8678.
